On 1 July, Monday, at 10:00 a.m. in. The work on the monumental sculpture of the great Bulgarian King Ivan Alexander will begin on Monday, 10:00 a.m., in the creative base of the patron Russi Kurtlakov. Among the initiators of the patriotic work are the patron Rusi Kurtlakov, the governor of Burgas region prof. Maria Neykova, the mayor of Kameno Municipality Zhelyo Vardunski, the director of the Burgas Museum Dr. Milen Nikolov, as well as many other intellectuals from the region and the country. The stone for the sculpture - Vratsa limestone weighing 8 tons, was provided by the patron Rusi Kurtlakov. The authors of the monument are Daniel Kanchev and Atanas Stoyanov.
The idea was to make a sculpture of the head of the great Bulgarian ruler Ivan Alexander with a height of 3 m. He personally led the army of the Bulgarian kingdom, which defeated at Rusokastro on 18 July 1332 the Byzantine army led by Emperor Andronik III Paleologos. The plaque will be placed at the entrance to the medieval town of Rusokastro.
Funds for the construction of the monument will be provided by local people who will donate for the sculpture.
