From October 26 to November 9, 2024, in the Ethnographic Exposition of the Regional History Museum - Burgas (69 Slavyanska Street) you can see the exhibition "Ukrainian Costumes and Traditions".
The event is organized within the framework of the cooperation between the Regional Museum of History - Burgas, the Embassy of Ukraine, the State Cultural Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in Burgas.
The photo exhibition "Ukrainian Costumes and Traditions" is part of the charity project "Sincere" of the Center "Domosfera" (Kyiv). The authors of the idea are Yaroslava Gres and Oleksandr Todorchuk. Photos courtesy of photographer Dmitry Peretrutov. The exhibition is dedicated to the traditional Ukrainian folk costumes, which are an integral part of the Ukrainian cultural heritage. The project aims to study and promote the sources of Ukrainian identity and uniqueness, the study of traditions and symbols preserved by previous generations.
The project was launched in Ukraine back in 2014, various thematic exhibitions and exhibitions have been demonstrated in 35 countries around the world. Among them are Latvia, Poland, France, the Czech Republic, Japan, Luxembourg, and now Bulgaria. The various events within the project reveal the beauty and diversity of Ukrainian traditional folk clothing. Participants are prominent Ukrainian figures of culture and art, musicians, athletes, designers.
Colorful costumes from different regions of Ukraine were also presented in calendars made under the "Sincere" project for charitable purposes. From their sale, more than 700 thousand Ukrainian hryvnias were collected, sent as assistance for wounded soldiers and as assistance for the activities of a number of cultural institutions - the Museum of Folk Art "Mykhailo Strutytsky", the Novoaidar Museum of Local Lore and the National Center of Folk Culture "Museum of Ivan Gonchar".
In addition to the photo boards, twelve in number, original objects representing the traditions of the country are also exhibited in the hall. They were collected and provided by the Embassy of Ukraine in Bulgaria.
