A monument to Tsar Ivan Alexander will be unveiled on September 1

On September 1, 2024, at 12:00 p.m., the grand opening of the monument of Tsar Ivan Alexander next to the Rusokastro fortress will take place. The three-meter monument to the great Bulgarian ruler is the work of the sculptors Atanas Stoyanov and Daniel Kanchev and has already been placed next to the historical fortress. It is a symbol of the important role of Tsar Ivan Alexander in Bulgarian history and emphasizes the importance of the Rusokastro fortress for the great victory over the Byzantine troops in 1332, led by Emperor Andronikos III Palaiologos. The construction of the monument was carried out by an initiative committee with members: Zhelyo Vardunski – Mayor of the Municipality of Kameno, Prof. Maria Neykova - Regional Governor of Burgas Region, Rusi Kurtlakov and Dr. Milen Nikolov - Director of the Regional History Museum - Burgas. The funding, provided for less than a week, is thanks to the donations of Yancho Prodanov – a farmer from the village of Polski Izvor, Kameno Municipality and Rusi Kurtlakov.
The ceremony will be attended by representatives of local and regional authorities, historians and public figures.
The Municipality of Kameno thanks everyone who supported this patriotic cause!
