The Louvre awaits artifacts from Regional Burgas Museum

Exhibits from Regional Historical Museum - Burgas will be included in a prestigious exhibition of the Thracian culture, which be presented to the visitors of the Louvre museum in Paris next year.

Two very interesting exhibits have been selected from the collection of the Regional museum in Burgas, that currently can be seen in the halls of the Archaeological Museum on "Bogoridi" 21.

The French specialists preparing the exhibition chose the monumental stone relief of the goddess Cybele, dated from the late sixth century BC. It was found in the center of the old town of Sozopol, whose predecessor was the oldest city in our lands - Apollonia Pontica.

The second artifact that will go to the Louvre, is an archaic marble statue of a young man, dated from the beginning of the 5th century BC. The headless kouros is the earliest statue found in Bulgarian lands. It was excavated from peninsula Atia together with a treasure of copper money-arrows, representing a rare form of pre-coin exchange means.

Apart from the exhibits of Regional Museum Burgas the exhibition will include artifacts from the museums in Sozopol and Nessebar.
