A few days ago Ivanka Deleva - Chief Curator of the Historical Exposition at the Regional Historical Museum - Burgas, successfully defended her dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Education and Science.
The public defense of the dissertation took place on March 12, 2024 in the conference hall of Shumen University "Bishop Konstantin Preslavsky". The research work on which Ivanka Deleva worked as a PhD student at the University of Shumen, with scientific supervisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Stefan Minkov, is entitled: "The Refugee Question in Bulgarian-Turkish Relations and the Settlement of East Thracian Refugees in Bulgaria in the Period 1913 - 1925". The topic is particularly topical and arouses great interest both in academic circles and among the general public. Members of the academic community from Sofia, Veliko Tarnovo, Burgas, Razgrad and Shumen attended the open closing session of the scientific jury.
The chair of the scientific jury and the moderator of the open session Prof. Dr. Rositsa Zhechkova Angelova-Georgieva presented the PhD student, after which, according to the procedure, the guests of the academic event listened to the exposé of I. Deleva, the detailed reviews and opinions of all members of the jury, speeches from the audience.
The jury composed of: prof. d.i.n. Radoslav Zahariev Mishev, prof. d.i.n. Prof. Dr. Rositsa Zhechkova Angelova-Georgieva, Prof. Dr. Rumen Hristov Yankov, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asya Lazarova Atanassova voted unanimously for awarding the degree of Doctor of Education and Science in History to Ivanka Deleva.
With the successful defense, the expert potential of RHM Burgas is significantly increased, which is among the main tasks of the museum.
