And this summer, every visitor to the Archaeological Museum in Burgas, who has paid an entrance ticket, will be able to drink a glass of wine among the showcases with ancient artifacts. The tasting of the products of local wine cellars is free. The initiative was introduced last summer at the idea of the director of the Regional Historical Museum in the seaside town, Dr. Milen Nikolov.
Zealous admirers of archeology will have the opportunity to purchase an original gift - author's replicas of wine glasses from Ancient Greece, Rome and the Middle Ages, made by the museum's restorer Ivan Arabadzhiev. The souvenirs offered at the Archaeological Museum at 21 "A. Bogoridi" Blvd. combine functionality with aesthetics, and the high-quality material is strong enough and suitable both for everyday use and for elegant decoration of any interior.
As a model, original samples from the ancient Greek, Roman and medieval eras, discovered during excavations by Burgas archaeologists, were used. Each and every glass is a work of art – it is handcrafted, drained on a potter's wheel, engobed, engraved and fired twice. Various techniques were used, including sgraffito.
