The Burgas Museum has the privilege to have a collection of beautiful Revival icons, which are among the most significant cultural values in its collection. As part of its mission to preserve, research and promote the cultural and historical heritage, the public institution maintains its iconic collection in good condition, organizes donations to support the restoration, conducts field research and promotes research.
Guided by the belief that the publication and attribution of paintings in a catalog would provide an opportunity to enrich the knowledge gained so far about them and would launch a multi-layered interdisciplinary study, RHM-Burgas applied for a project to print a specialized scientific publication. The catalog is already a fact, it is bilingual, with an English translation and covers all the exhibits included in the museum exposition, as well as some icons from the depot.
The project was implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture under the program "Financing of projects in the field of movable cultural heritage and visual arts".
The official presentation of the first of its kind directory "Icons from the Burgas Museum" will take place on 16 (Tuesday) November from 14:00 in the Icon Hall of the Historical Museum, 31 Lermontov Str.
