The Historical Museum in Burgas will welcome visitors on occasion of the Liberation of the city this Sunday

On the holiday the Historical Exposition of RHM Burgas will welcome visitors on the occasion of the Liberation of the city this Sunday (6.02) from 10:00 to 14:00.

On the occasion of February 6, the day when 144 years ago Burgas welcomed the detachment of Colonel Lermontov, heralding the end of the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878 and the long-awaited freedom, the History Museum invites citizens and guests of the seaside town to invest in the holiday patriotic context, considering the thematic exposition in the building at 31 Lermontov Street, dedicated to the turning points. This year the focus of the exhibition is a Montenegrin uniform, which belonged to a security guard of the Russian Vice Consulate in our city after the Liberation. The position of security guard or "gavazin" is often held by Montenegrins, preferred for this position because of their professionalism, their representative growth, and by the Russians because of Orthodoxy and Slavism.

It is known from archival documents that the first vice-consul of Russia in Burgas after the Liberation was Nikolai Hartwig, a Russian nobleman of German descent. In 1884 he was nominated for "Honorary Citizen of Burgas" for the establishment of companies, the development of trade between the Russian Empire and Eastern Rumelia, for his efforts to develop education in this area.

The exposed items of clothing are from the top of the garment. Complete with pants, belt and hat, which are not preserved. The national Montenegrin costume is one of the most beautiful and expensive national clothes in Europe, due to the high quality materials and gold trim used in it.

The working hours of the four expositions are: From Tuesday to Saturday inclusive from 9:00 to 17:00.
