The story of how chemical analyzes changed the date of an emblematic archaeological object with 10 centuries will be told by a Burgas archaeologist during the traditional lecture in the museum this Saturday - March 16. PhD. Yoto Valeriyev will present data from interdisciplinary studies on metal pendants with images of a horse with a male head.
Archaeologists from the middle of the last century connected these curious jewels to the Bulgarian material culture of the period of the First Bulgarian Kingdom (VII-XI century), defined them as made of bronze and viewed them together with other monuments - the so-called bronze amulets horsemen dated between 6th and 11th centuries. The analyzes undertaken in recent years, however, corrected the notion of their composite material and the date by taking them to the Late Middle Ages (New Age), and in particular the 19th century.
The lecture "Pendants with image of a horse with a male head" will be held this Saturday (March 16th) at 11:30 h. in the Ethnographic Museum at 69 Slavyanska Street. The entrance fee is preferential - for adults 2 levs for students and pensioners - BGN 1
