Archaeologists from National Historical Museum and Regional Historical Museum Burgas have started underwater research in the Burgas Bay

Another underwater archeological expedition is currently taking place in the region of Burgas Bay. It is fully funded by the Municipality of Burgas, organized by the National Historical Museum - Sofia and the Burgas Museum and is a planned continuation of the expeditions of 2022 in the waters of Kraimorie.
The aim is to investigate alleged ancient port areas around the headlands near Kraimorie. The expedition is led by Prof. Dr. Ivan Hristov from the National History Museum. Specialists from the local museum will participate in Prof. Hristov's team. Geophysical surveys of Eng. Kiril Velkovski with the kind assistance and equipment of the Center for Underwater Archeology in Sozopol are also planned. Archaeologists hope to reconstruct the ancient coastline of the Black Sea capes and collect valuable historical artifacts dating to different periods of navigation in this part of the Black Sea coast.
We remind you that thanks to the previous underwater research of the two institutions, dozens of valuable objects were discovered that enrich the fund of RHM Burgas. The results so far are described in Prof. Hristov's monograph "Secrets of the Chengene Schengene skele Bay", which will be presented at the end of June at the Archaeological Museum - Burgas.
It is expected that the new results of the upcoming expedition will also quickly become available to fans of the ancient history of the Burgas region and the Black Sea.
