Archaeological excavations of the Bulgarian medieval town of Rusokastro have begun

Archaeologists from the Burgas Museum opened the archaeological season in the medieval Bulgarian town of Rusokastro. This year their aim is to uncover the northwestern fortress wall of the town, located between the castle and the northwest corner of the fortified area. On the very first day numerous finds were discovered - 4 coins of the Bulgarian king Ivan Alexander, iron arrows, craft tools, etc.
The excavations were traditionally financed by the Municipality of Kameno. The museum is awaiting funding from the Ministry of Culture, for which a project has been submitted.
At the same time the site is being prepared for the medieval camp, which will welcome its guests on 22 and 23 July. Then the association "Chigot" will recreate a real medieval environment - presentation of medieval crafts, medieval cuisine, combat demonstrations with bow and sword, traditional medieval costumes for men and women and many other attractions. The event is organized by Kameno Municipality and Burgas Museum.
