140 years since the birth of Mikhail Gerdzhikov - organizer and leader of the uprising in 1903

Mikhail Gerdzhikov was born on January 26, 1877 in Plovdiv. He grew in those turbulent years after the Liberation of Bulgaria, when the foundations of the renewed state, rapture and intoxication of the freedom, followed by the 1885 Unification, had not been able to erase from the minds of people the bitterness of the unjust decisions at the Berlin Congress. The fate of other Bulgarians in slavery troubled all of the awakened minds in free Bulgaria.
