On February 14, RHM-Burgas invites all couples and people associated with viticulture and wine-making to a free visit in the Archaeological Exposition (21 Bogoridi Street).
February 14 is known as a feast of wine and love. On this day people honour the Christian saints Trifon Zarezan and Valentine. Little is known, however, that on this day Bulgarian archaeologists celebrate their professional holiday. The celebration on this date began in 1971 upon the initiative of the Archaeological Institute with a museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (now the National Archaeological Institute with a museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences).
The background of the holiday in our lands is related to the celebrations in honour of Dionysus - the god of wine and joy. Under the influence of wine, exultant music and dances, the participants in the mysterious feasts sought Dionysus' protection, and some immortality or pleasant afterlife.
