At the Lake of Atanassovo, salt is being extracted from ancient times. Modern production of salt begins in 1906. The seawater is fed into large ponds and water is drawn out through natural evaporation which allows the salt to be subsequently harvested and is environmentally clean. Atanassovo Lake is a great example of coexistence between economical interests and nature.
During the summer months, people use it to bath with the healing mud in specially prepared ponds. Experts recommend no more than 20 treatments with firth mud lasting around 30-40 minutes each.
