Three precious icons saved by patriotic citizens

Restored are the first three Renaissance icons from the collection of Regional Historical Museum Burgas, which at the end of 2014 were placed in a donation campaign. Now they are exhibited for visitors in the Icon Hall of Historical Museum Burgas (31 Lermotnov St) in their full splendor.

The call to rescue the icons responded citizens who donated a total of 1,500 BGN. It is noteworthy that sponsors are individuals, Christians, who hold dear and the Bulgarian cultural heritage.
The campaign of Regional historical museum Burgas for restoration of Bulgarian icons continues as currently there are still 20 icons in need of restoration. Most of them are given to the museum by the Police Department in Burgas. Upon entering the museum, the icons were conservated, but to restore their shine and become known to the Burgas public, they need to be fully restored. For the restoration of an icon, between 500 and 1000 BGN are required depending on its size.
