Fundraising Campaign: Will they find a new home in the Natural History Museum?

This is the motto of a fundraising campaign that Regional History Museum Burgas started in May in order to create a fossils hall in the Natural History Museum.

It's no secret that prehistoric animals are interesting not only for children but also for adults. Unfortunately in Bulgaria, fossils expositions are rare and exist only in a very few museums.

A true treasure of fossils is stored in the collection of the Natural History Museum, that hasn’t been shown to the public so far. Their number exceeds a thousand, but only the fragments of mammals over 100.

Today the Natural History Museum of Burgas is ready to dedicate a hall specifically to the ancient world of fossils, but additional funds are needed for its renovation and set up.
Natural History Museum of Burgas alone can only fund to replace the currently displayed rocks and minerals with fossils, but shown in this way they would lose their attractiveness.

The funds required for the new exhibition the museum team will raise through several events. Everybody can join the fundraising campaign by:
• donating funds to the bank account of Regional Historical Museum Burgas, at the Natural History Museum (Burgas, 30 K.Fotinov St) or in one of the other three expositions;
• participating in charity workshop on 10th and 11th May in the Natural History Museum (Burgas, 30 K.Fotinov St) and create with us items which will be sold at -
• charity sale in the Night of Museums on May 17 and buy them.

The aim of the campaign is to raise the amount of 5500 BGN, which is required for the initial set up of the hall.

Fossils from the collection of Regional Museum Burgas will be displayed in the biggest mall in Burgas as a part of the charity campaign.

Mobile exhibition "Will they find a new home in the Natural History Museum?"
Time: 12 May 2014 - 16 May 2014, 10:00 - 17:00
Location: BFU
The mobile exhibition includes an extremely rare type of ammonite, from which worldwide are known only seven examples. The ammonite was bought for the museum collection with donations by students in Public Administration from Burgas Free University.

Workshop for charity campaign "Will they find a new home in the Natural History Museum?"

Location: Museum of Natural History, Burgas, 30 K.Fotinov St.
Join us in a charity workshop, where we will create small objects with minerals and jewelry beads, which will be sold to raise funds for the new exposition "The Ancient Seas of Bulgaria".
