On 13.12.2018 / Thursday / at 18.00, the Collection of the papers of the international scientific conference "Simeon Bulgaria in the History of the European Southeast: 1100 Years of the Battle at the Aheloy River, 917-2017" will officially be presented at the "Dechko Stoev" Art Gallery - Pomorie.
The conference was held in October 2017 as part of the anniversary celebration of the 1100th anniversary of the great victory. Organizers of the high forum were: Pomorie Municipality, History Museum - Pomorie, the two leading history faculties in the country - Veliko Tarnovo University "St. St. Cyril and Methodius "and the Sofia University" St. Kliment Ohridski ", the Center for Media Studies at the University of Veliko Tarnovo and the Regional historical museum in Burgas.
The event met the leading Bulgarian and foreign researchers in this glorious period of medieval Bulgarian history. There were recorded 53 reports and scientific reports of Bulgarian and foreign scientists, specialists from different spheres of humanities - history, archaeology, philology, linguistics, scraphistics, numismatics, epigraphy, art studies. Among the authors of the reports are the names of museum specialists from the whole country, lecturers, historians from the Sofia, Veliko Tarnovo, Plovdiv, Shoumen University, AI and NAIM at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, as well as prominent scholars from foreign institutes. The new book of the Polish scientist Prof. Miroslav Lestka "Tsar Simeon the Great and Byzantium" was also presented in the framework of the conference.
Besides the significant scientific contribution of the conference, it undoubtedly plays an important role in the widespread popularization of our glorious past, and in particular Simeon's picture of Bulgaria in its diversity as political development, economy and trade relations, lifestyle, religion, language, culture and education.
