Burgas hosted a two-day forum dedicated to digitization and registration of intangible cultural heritage. Its information part was held in the hospitable halls of the Center for Contemporary Art and the Burgas Library, and the practical part in the new ethno-tourist complex Chengene Skele. The activities were implemented within the final conference of the international project "Digital Presentation and Preservation of the Intangible Cultural Heritage" (DigiCult) under the Erasmus + program of the European Union. The organizers of the forum were the Regional History Museum - Burgas and Burgas Free University, which are partners in the project.
The event was attended by more than 50 representatives of museums and community centers across the country. An information day was held within the event with lectures, presentations and discussion, which aimed to increase the competencies of cultural heritage experts and their digital skills. Good practices and hotspots on the registration, presentation and preservation of the intangible cultural heritage were discussed through presentations and an open debate.
The hosts from RHM-Burgas and BFU presented a unified model for digitalization of intangible cultural heritage, developed by the project partners from Bulgaria, Italy, Greece and Latvia. The experience of cultural workers from other countries and their peculiarities were shared.
Everyone who wants to learn more and improve their skills was offered the opportunity to undergo online training for digitalization of cultural heritage within 35 hours. This must be stated by a specific person at the e-mail address of RHM-Burgas main@burgasmuseums.bg. Successful graduates are issued a certificate.
The cultural program of the conference included a visit by sea to the ethno-tourist complex Chengene Skele, presenting and preserving the intangible cultural heritage of the local fishing community. A number of informal meetings were held between museum directors, museum experts, representatives of community centers and libraries.
