The exhibition "Donated and rescued treasures" is presented for the first time since the restoration of the cultural treasures from the collections of Regional historical museum Burgas, which were acquired in the period 1996 - 2000. These treasures have high artistic and museum value. Their presence in the Burgas museum today is possible due to the outstanding professionalism in the combat with the illegal traffic of cultural heritage on the territory of Bulgaria. of the staff of the Regional Customs Directorate – Burgas, Boarder custom Malko Turnovo, the Regional Prosecutor's Office and Court in Malko Turnovo, District Prosecutor's Office and Court of Burgas and the Regional Directorate Police – Burgas.
Exposed are some of the most beautiful and representative objects from two collections, which have been illegally transported from Central Europe to Turkey. The collections contain masterpieces from France, southern Germany, northern Italy and the former Austro-Hungarian Empire, and can be associated with the most famous art studios of imperial Europe of the 18th-19th centuries. Their beauty and magnificence compete with collections of the major European museums. Experts in cultural heritage identify their undoubted high value to the collectors.
The confiscated in 1996 "French Collection" includes 13 desk-clocks, set of 32 vases and 11 candlesticks, lampshades, chandeliers, silver trays, silver service for liquor, bracket lamps, and part of the boudoir. Infiltrating into the everyday life, the French applied art brings the finesse and elegance of the French aristocracy that is why their samples have never lasting value and serve as models for generations of art creators.
The second collection captured in 1998 at the Boarder custom Malko Tarnovo, consists of 96 objects of the decorative and fine art - wooden furniture, paintings depicting the European classicism and impressionism.
The third collection of icons and church altar has been detained by the Legal authorities of the District Police Directorate - Burgas in 1995.
The majority of exhibits were brought to the museum in poor condition and therefore the last 4 years has been carried out restoration and conservation works on most of them.
On the glass windows are exposed old photographs of iconic buildings for the city of Burgas built in the late nineteenth century, which are now listed as monuments of culture.
The building repair and the glass stands of the Historical exposition have been funded by the municipality of Burgas.
