On the occasion of May 24 - a day of Bulgarian and Slavic writing, education and culture, RHM - Burgas will present to the general public several finds from 5 thousand BC, on which are depicted prescriptive signs.
These are several prisms made of clay on which the signs are engraved. They were found at the prehistoric settlement mounds "Burgas" and at the settlement mound "Black Sea". Although small in size, they are very elegantly shaped and the images are carefully applied. Such signs are a direct evidence of the high culture of the pastoral and agricultural tribes that inhabited the lands of the Burgas Bay in ancient times. Apparently as early as the beginning of 5,000 BC. they realized the need to record speech and created systems in which certain signs were loaded with a certain meaning.
Prisms with prescribed signs are exhibited in the Archaeological Exposition of RHM - Burgas and can be seen in the period from Tuesday to Saturday, from 09:00 to 17:00, and on Sunday from 09:00 to 14:00. Monday, May 24, the Archaeological Exposition (21 Aleko Bogoridi Blvd.) will be open to visitors from 09:00 to 17:00.
