Wonderful NIGHT OF MUSEUMS at the Ethnographic Museum

A wonderful Night of Museums awaits Burgas residents and visitors on May 17, 2025 (Saturday) at the Ethnographic Exhibition of the Regional Museum of History in Burgas (69 Slavyanska Street). The event will begin with a fashion show entitled "Inherited Beauty" at 6:00 p.m., featuring authentic children's costumes from the collections of Lilia Getova and Rositsa Dimitrova. For many years, the two ladies have been collecting, restoring, and presenting the wealth of Bulgarian craftsmanship. The fashion show will feature children's costumes from different parts of Bulgaria, including the Burgas region. Together with the little models from the "Sun" kindergarten in Burgas, their teachers will also take to the stage wearing authentic women's costumes from the Burgas Regional Museum of History collection.

The evening will continue with musical performances by the beloved Strandzha singer Stoyan Fiziev. Together with his colleagues, the musicians from the Fiziev Band, he will reveal to the audience the richness of Strandzha's song folklore.
In the temporary exhibition hall, visitors will be able to enjoy "The Wonderful World of the Thracian Woman" – an exhibition by REM Plovdiv. It presents women as the continuers of the family line, the keepers of the home, and the creators of comfort in the home. She raises and cares for her children, passing on her experience to her daughters in every respect. The woman who creates, follows, and passes on tradition in the different stages of her life. The exhibition shows Bulgarian women at different ages with their characteristic beliefs, representations, and transformations in terms of lifestyle and ideas. The most important stages of her life have been selected – birth, Lazarus Saturday, engagement, wedding, motherhood, and related activities. Visitors are introduced to the wonderful world of the Thracian woman, her dreams and desires. The exhibition "The Wonderful World of the Thracian Woman" aims to "tell" us about the beliefs and hopes of every woman and to separate her from the image of a working woman who mainly takes care of the house, comfort, and harmony in the family.
Many visitors can relive their childhood memories, younger visitors can recall the stories of their grandmothers, and the youngest visitors can learn about Bulgarian traditions. The emphasis is on the various family, social, and ritual functions of women, as well as the norms and customs that they have observed in their various roles in life.
Visitors will also be able to see clothing and jewelry from Thrace with characteristic symbols.
The exhibition will be open until the end of September 2025.
