The Burgas Museum presents the beauty of the garb and the memory of Bulgarian refugees in a calendar for 2019

A calendar for 2019 with the costumes of settlers from Thrace and Macedonia will be presented at <b>December 11 (Tuesday) at 17:00 at the Ethnographic Museum in Burgas. It is titled "Three Sisters - 100 Years Later" in memory of the thousands of Bulgarian refugees and their descendants who were expelled from their native places after 1919. Then the Neuilly Peace Treaty was signed, ending the dream of national unification of the native Bulgarian lands. More than 100,000 imigrants found their new life in Burgas region and create many of today's Burgas districts - Sarafovo, Kraimorie and others.

Behind the "Three Sisters - 100 Years Later" calendar stands the "Bulgarian Roots" team - four photographers led by their love for Bulgarian folklore. For the photos in the calendar are used costumes, belonging to refugees from Thrace, Macedonia, Western suburbs, North Dobrudja, which are today preserved in two museums in Bulgaria - Regional History Museum of Burgas and IEFEM - BAS Sofia. Authentic costumes are the bearers of memories of grief and desire, hope and faith for a better future for the emigrants. Looking at them, everyone can remember the stories of their grandparents and imagine their lives more than a century ago.
