Successful and different 2014 for Regional Museum Burgas

2014 was successful and very different from previous years for Regional Historical Museum - Burgas (RHM - Burgas). This was reported by the management body of the museum in the face of the director of RHM Burgas Milen Nikolov at a press conference.

In 2014 Burgas Museum made one of the most important scientific discoveries in its history. Inside the shattered reliquarium chamber of the Basilica on Peninsula Foros, a lead ampoule lead - reliquary was found in the spot. It has a length of 22 mm and a diameter of 17 mm, as one side is represented in equal arms cross pendant, and on the other - two nested equal-armed crosses. It dates back to the sixth century. Studies have shown that the size of the ampoule of Foros and its images are identical with clay ampoules group originating in Ephesus, which connects it with the cult of St. John the Evangelist - is particularly revered saint of the early Christians. He was a beloved disciple of Jesus Christ, who settled on the order of his teacher in Ephesus, where he wrote the Apocalypse and ends his life on earth. At this stage of the inquiry was adopted that a pilgrim from the fortress "Poros" committed pilgrimage to the tomb of St. John the Theologian in Ephesus, where he was brought valuable relic - a vial with healing powder.
