In the Bulgarian tradition the holiday of Baba Marta is a symbol of spring and is a wish for health and prosperity. In the past martenitsas have served as amulets that protect those who wear them from harm and misfortune. Thus when martenitsas are made they should be charged with positive energy. At the Natural History Museum of Burgas this year again, we are twisting white and red threads for health and wellbeing. Various minerals can be added to aid love, health, luck, clear mind. This year the stones with strong impact, especially for luck, are jasper, lapis lazuli, blue sunny stone, obsidian, serpentinita, labradorite, amethyst and dark agates.

Our martenitsas we offer again at the symbolic price of 0.50 lv. The museum is open every weekday from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 17.00. This year the we offer another opportunity. In the last days of February, everyone can visit our Martenitza Workshop. So for the price of the entrance ticket to the museum, anyone who wants can create their own martenitzas as gifts for loved ones and choose minerals to knit in the white and red thread.
