On the occasion of the eighth of March in the archaeological exposition of RHM-Burgas will be presented the exhibition. LOOK IN THE MIRROR".
From antiquity until today, mirrors are one of the most commonly used toiletries. Over the millennia, different techniques and materials have been used to make them.
In antiquity, the use of mirrors with frames and handles made of lead was widespread. In archaeology, there is no uniform opinion on their purpose. The most commonly found lead mirrors are circular in shape and the handle is broken off. Almost invariably the face lamellae are decorated with geometric and floral motifs. More interesting are the occipital lamellae, which have standard inscriptions. In the modern Bulgarian lands, the texts are written in Old Greek: "You are lovely", "All good things belong to the beautiful woman", "All good things belong to the beautiful women", "For the mistress a gift", "Beauty, take me I am your beauty"...
