Lecture "Lazarovden - Tradition and Modernity" on April 13 in the Ethnographic Museum of Burgas

On the penultimate Saturday before Easter Orthodox Christians celebrate Lazarovden. In 2019, the holiday date is 20 April. This is one of the most cheerful, the most poetic and the most popular Bulgarian custom.

At Lazarovden the young girls are chanting the words "Open boxwood gates, the bridegroom to get angels!" along the village. They put festive costumes, turn a willow branch to a wreath and walk around the village. In Burgas, due to the presence of several ethnographic groups, the Lazarus day is varied and colorful, as are the variegated maiden mood changes.

How did the people celebrate Lazarovden in the past, how the custom is presented today, you will find out on April 13th at 11:30 h. in the Ethnographic Museum on 69 Slavyanska Street. Author of the lecture "Lazarovden - Tradition and Contemporaryity" is Plamena Kirova - curator at the Ethnography Department in the Burgas Museum.

The entrance fee for the lecture is preferential - for adults 2 BGN and for students and pensioners - 1 BGN.
