The Historical Museum is visiting the Elin Pelin Primary School Burgas on the occasion of Bulgarian Liberation

The thematic visit to the school was conditioned by the upcoming celebration of the National Holiday of Bulgaria - March 3- Liberation Day of Bulgaria. The invitation to the museum was made by the class teacher of the 5 J class , Petya Petrova, supported by the school principal Pepa Zapryanova and mostly inspired by the curiosity inherent in children. As an introduction to the meeting, the fifth graders were told the nature and specifics of museums as cultural and scientific institutes and the activities of the museum curator. After that their attention was focused on Burgas and its unknown past. They were offered a visual tour of the old town with its people and distinctive features, a brief chronicle of the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878, and presented the difficult path of the Bulgarians to freedom. A proper place was given to Colonel Lermontov's Flying Detachment, which brought the news of the long-awaited liberation on February 6, 1878. The satisfaction of this hour of patriotism, we believe, was mutual. That idea, when the museum specialists are visiting a school class is not new, and in general the topic "School in the museum, museum in the school" has been discussed many times - both at the local level and in the Parliamentary Committee on Education and Science. Strategies, frighteningly, do not have the desired result. The fact is, however, that the initiative "Museum in a suitcase" of the Burgas Museum and all other informal meetings with students have always aroused interest in children. As well as their visit to the museum never leaves them indifferent. Therefore, we believe that despite all the difficulties, with our work we help them to form that specific worldview, respecting education and knowledge, which will reveal to all of us "bright futures".
